Who Is Beth Lane?
I’m so glad you asked!
How did I get to where I am today? How did I come to merge the business and spiritual sides of me?
It’s been a long and interesting trip. I woke up on New Year’s Day morning in 1987 and realized I was a widow (for the second time) and now had two small children to support. And to make things more exciting, there was no life insurance and only my small salary to pay the mortage and bills.
So began a search on two fronts – a business to live from and spiritual answers to what had happened in my life.
On the Business side:
I have had 30+ years selling experience. I have owned stores, run route sales, managed stores, managed sales forces, done wholesale, retail and jobber sales. I have been inside and outside sales – sold tangible and intangible products and services. I have sold t-shirts, sweat shirts and ladies ball gowns; Indian Jewelry, Mexican imports and clothing from Malaysia; potato chips made at my family’s own gourmet potato chip company, fresh green corn off my ranch near Tucson and Hansen’s Juice out of my own delivery truck; I’ve sold the Duck’s Insurance – some of those mortgages that may have helped get us into the current mess and admission tickets at the front gate of Old Tucson Movie Location (where I later ended up Director of Merchandising in charge of eleven stores.) I have sold real estate & furniture to decorate your home and could have included a MLM water filter. In short, I have had reams of sales training, miles and years of experience, and terrific results. I love sales, but more than that, I love teaching people to get the same results I have in a way that is comfortable for them.
I was given the old school sales training – you know, the stuff that sounded like war – Black Belt Telemarketing……..Super Sales Boot Camp………and I tried those tactics to varying degrees of success.
But, Through it all, I hated being the old-style high powered, in your face sales person. I have consistently produced results without resulting to fear selling and manipulation. (Well, maybe in the beginning I tried that, but it certainly never fit my style.Soon enough I discarded it permanently!)
On the Spiritual Side:
During this time, I pursued the spiritual studies I had begun before my marriage. I also co-founded a metaphysical institute in Tucson, AZ, read everything I could find in self-help; how the mind works; the spiritual base for prosperity; how the world works energetically – you get the picture. I studied energy, divination, channeling, hypnotherapy and became a certified coach. I walked two paths – one in the business world and one in a more esoteric place. Eventually I began to merge the two. As this happened, I began to be more successful when I did sales MY way – spirit and service based. I realized that to be successful at anything, it is necessary to be authentic. And that when you are authentic, you are almost guaranteed success.
At one position, I was asked, “Beth how do you do it? How do you sell at the top and yet you aren’t like the others? How come I like you when the rest are so phoney?”
I finally had to stop and think about it. The result of that thinking is what I call the Peaceful Selling Process. I left the corporate sales world to concentrate on helping other people find the way to support themselves in the business world and maintain their spiritual integrity.
My coaching merges my business experience and training with the cosmic perspective I receive from my connection to Mel – a very practical spiritual entity and teacher who currently does not walk the planet with us.
I am certified from Coach Training Alliance, a conscious channel for ‘Mel’, a licensed hypnotherapist, an avid reader, a lover of food, travel and good conversation.
