Fear’s Edge – Sounds like a new Soap
Edges are interesting things. They separate two or more things, and they also join them together! Edges are places where things relate to each other.
We live our life on edges of one sort of another. Sometimes we call them boundaries, and they feel restrictive. Other times we call them cliffs and we blithely jump off.
Many times when we feel something, and call it ‘fear’ because of memories of similiar circumstances in the past. Maybe it’s the big drop on a roller coaster, or maybe it’s the big deal that will make or break your month.
We usually label that feeling fear without looking at the options.
If we responded to that emotional state by calling it ‘excitement’, the prospects change immediately. The body responds the same way, but the mind feels better or worse by the label we assign.
So, think of yourself as walking an edge of life. You can step into fear, or into excitement quite easily. You simply call it one or the other – and PRESTO, it is so.
Try controlling the circumstances of your life by using better labels. You will find that your responses and options open dramatically when you begin to do this.
