Spiritual Entrepreneurs Aren’t Free

Posted by Beth on May 22, 2010 under Uncategorized | 2 Comments to Read

Just a quick thought here – two things actually.  Many spiritual entrepreneurs feel bad about asking for or accepting adequate fees for what they do.  It seems, they think, that they should give away what seems so easy and natural to them – their gift.

And by doing this, they think they are serving Spirit.  Meanwhile they can’t pay their own bills; they can’t travel to reach new audiences; they can’t take the time off to write that book or that program; they can’t get the next level of training that they need – they are too busy working at a job they hate to try and hold their life together so they can give away their gifts.

So, they are NOT free to help many people.  They are NOT free from money worries;  They are NOT free to be who they truly are;  They are NOT free to serve and honor the gift that Spirit has given them.

And they are reluctant to expand their market to actually include those who can pay for serices – on the theory that they must help the ‘underpriviledged’ and the rest of the world either can take care of themselves – or in some obscure way doesn’t really need or deserve help.

Look at these beliefs!  If these stories ring true in any degree consider this:

By believing and acting this way, you deny the energy exchange that money represents out of a false belief that it’s bad; you judge anyone who has created prosperity as ‘bad’ or ‘undeserving of help’ and you hold yourself at a lower level of service and life.

Maybe it’s time to re-examine the stories you tell yourself.

Criticism is NOT Motivation

Posted by Beth on March 24, 2010 under Inspired Action, Spiritual Business, The Mental Game - Mind Sets for Achievement | 3 Comments to Read

When things aren’t going as we’d like them to, there is a tendency to search for a way to motivate one’s self into greater effort or action.  This approach comes from the old ‘no pain-no gain’ strategy.  And because it’s painful to push through the pain, we sometimes resort to criticism to goad us into action.

As Spiritual Entrepreneurs, we KNOW that it’s inspired, aligned action that creates the results we most want – but sometimes the old training kicks in and we hear that tiny voice in our heads explaining to us that we are not enough; we are wrong; or bad; or lazy; or whatever else it has stored up as a hated label to drive us into action.

One important thing to know is:  You Can’t Criticize Yourself into Alignment.

I ask you to please, take the first appearance of a Negative Label applied to Self as a signal to immediately stop whatever you’re doing.  Stopping can break the downward spiral before it can take full force and pull you into a messy stuck place.

Stop.  Change the topic for a bit.  Ask for inspirtaion or guidance.  Re-evaluate.  and Then take appropriate action from a place of power, not self-criticism.  It will bring you closer to your results in a much quicker way.

How do you employ Intuition in your Business?

Posted by Beth on March 5, 2010 under Inspired Action, Spiritual Business | Be the First to Comment

I’ve been thinking a lot lately, and talking to people about how they employ their Intuition in their business.

After all, your intuition is a completely free employee – and one that is usually under-utilized!  Think about it – no wages, no benefits to provide, no days off – in fact it’s the perfect employee.

But if there was a virtual complaint box, it might be stuffed with little notes from your intuitive self.  Most likely the notes would mention things that could be done, things that shouldn’t be done, and perhaps a plaintative comment about having too much time on hand and too little input.

This week, I invite you to think about how much or little you actually employ your intuition or guidance.  I’d love to hear about where it is easy to use, and where you find it difficult.  And, of course your stories about its successful employment would be most welcome.

Universal Laws – Have you Broken Any?

Posted by Beth on February 19, 2010 under Sales Tips & Techniques, Spiritual Business, The Mental Game - Mind Sets for Achievement, The Mental Game of Life | Read the First Comment

Sometimes we know that what we’re doing is equivalent to trying to push a rope up-hill – and yet we insist on persisting.  We know that a solution we’re trying to hammer into place isn’t going to work the way we want it to, but we can’t see anything else to do.

When we push against what have been termed Universal Laws, and refuse to accept the results that are coming, we become Law Breakers of a sort.  Fortunately for us – there are no Universal Law Police – there are only the results (which have been called various things, including: bad luck, rough breaks & even karma).

I want to suggest to you that there are some positive aspects to breaking these rules – of course, you might have to pick yourself up and dust yourself off before they are apparent.

For example:  If you have created a presentation or marketing piece aimed at a certain market – say accountants, and you find only artists are answering your ad, you can look at this two ways.  Either your Ad needs re-working OR you are a fit for the artist group.  This is the Law of Attraction in its flip side -it  is not only attracting those it matches (artists) it is repelling those it does not (accountants).

If you try to ‘ Break’ this law by placing your artist ad in an accounting journal – you will be visited by bad luck, rough breaks and karma in the form of frustration, no response and no income.

If you pay attention, you will learn to make adjustments that take you in the direction of the results you want in an easy manner.  So…..the message here is – ifyour results don’t match your desire – check to see if you’re a Law Breaker!!

Remember to Engage Your Imagine-Time

Posted by Beth on February 17, 2010 under Inspired Action, Spiritual Business, The Mental Game - Mind Sets for Achievement | Be the First to Comment

One of the things we often forget to do in our busy schedules is to schedule ‘Imagine-Time’.

That’s time to dream bigger dreams, plan larger plans and reach for  bigger goals in our spiritual business.

My Father, who was an old-school, hard line business guy always said the main thing that set him apart from the people that worked for him was that he took time to think and imagine!  And it is often the scale of our dreams and our commitment to them that sets us apart from others.

So I require that people who coach with me set some time aside every week – at least 30 minutes to practice strengthening their Imagining Muscles!  The more you do it, the easier and more fun it becomes.  Try this yourself:

Take a Dream of yours and simply imagine the first step.

Then say to yourself:  “And once that happens, maybe I could…………”

Then say:   “And after that, then ……XYZ……..might be possible!!!!”

Repeat as many time and for as long as is pleasurable.  And, Congratulations,  You have just Engaged your Imagine-Time!

Would a Profitable Match-Making Service pair You to Your Clients?

Posted by Beth on February 8, 2010 under Peaceful Selling, Spiritual Business, The Mental Game of Life, marketing | Be the First to Comment

It’s Marketing as a topic this week in the PTP Class, so I’m thinking a lot about Ideal Clients. If you don’t know who you want to reach, it’s impossible to find them! If you don’t know why you are a match for them, it’s imposible to tell them!

Think about it this way – if you and your current clients went to a dating service what are the chances that you’d be introduced? Take a look at your clients (or at the niche you wish were your clients) and think about it from a dating service standpoint. If your business and your profit depended on matching YOU to a good partner – would this be a pairing you would bet on? Because…..drumroll please…..you are betting your business on it right now!

If you don’t know who you want to ‘date’ in your business, how can you hope to succeed? Or if you want to ‘be with’ everyone, how can you have a relationship with anyone? It’s time to get very serious about the traits, problems and profile of your ideal business client!

Fortunately, choosing a client is not quite the same as making a marriage vow – but it is important to make a committment to a service area and a customer profile so that you can develop lasting relationships that will benefit all parties.

I’m hoping you will spend some time on this now, so that your Valentines can be delivered all year long.

PS: PTP is, of course, at www.profitwithspirit.com

Immovable Object or Inspired Action – Which are You

Posted by Beth on February 4, 2010 under Inspired Action, Sales Tips & Techniques, Spiritual Business, The Mental Game of Life | Be the First to Comment

There’s a lot of buzz about being sure that the actions you undertake come from a place of inspiration – that they are inspired action and create inspired results. But this is complicated by the fact that some things that we simply must do, are singularly lacking in the ability to inspire us.

Here’s a couple of simple steps that can help you tell if this is something you should do:

First, if you feel a ‘pull’ to take the action and you are not moving, you are creating resistance. One thing can only pull against another that other is hesitating or resisting the movement. In this case, the ‘pull’ may be your guidance, and you may be the immovable object.

Secondly, give in a bit to that nudge and see which way the current is running. Does it appear to be headed toward the end result you crave – or is it sweeping you in another direction.

If you’re headed away from your goal, stop. The pull will be lessened, for you have taken some action on it, and now can release it’s hold on you, for you know it is not productive.

If you’re headed in a good direction, relax your resistance and go with that flow.
If you’re headed in a good direction, but for some reason, you still don’t want to ‘do’ it, then an attitude adjustment is in order. After all, if you’re progressing toward your ultimate goal there’s no need to waste your own energy fighting yourself. Find a way to think different thoughts about this action or job. Your own attitude will change a chore into a step toward your dream.

What’s Different after a Year with Mel?

Posted by Beth on January 22, 2010 under Channeled Information | Be the First to Comment

That is an interesting question which was posed to me today: How am I different after speaking for Mel for a year?

I think that I now have a much more connected feeling to other people. It is more apparent than ever that each of us has our own challenges and concerns and problems to face. And no matter how happy or successful or complete we might appear on the surface, each of us underneath it all, is another Soul trying to figure things out.

I see us all connected – to each other, to this place we call Earth – and to Spirit.

But most of all I am just plain Happier myself!! I love what I do, and the gift of being able to Speak for Mel and to see the sights he give me is beyond wonderful. (There’s an audio explanation of what I do on the web site on the Talk to Mel page.)

Thanks to all of those who have brought questions to Mel – and to all those who will. It is a delight to participate in the conversations and to be able to be of service in this way. I love doing this work!!

What Kind of Busy is Good?

Posted by Beth on January 18, 2010 under Sales Tips & Techniques, Spiritual Business | Be the First to Comment

It’s Monday, and the word Busy comes to mind.  It could be a severely busy day – if I let it.  Better said, it could be a day of expending a lot of energy and feeling drained at the end.

The busy that is good is an inspired busy.  My friend, Mel, was talking about Bees in the next issue of Signposts (www.profitwithspirit.com) and being seemingly mindlessly busy. I realized that it’s impossible to tell from the outside if someone is mindlessly busy – or inspiredly busy.

That’s an inside job.  You are the only one who knows if you are hiding in a smoke screen of busy-ness – or actually following a productive, energy producing path.  Think about the wonderful feeling of accomplishment that comes when you are pleasantly tired, but loving your results – and see if what you have planned today fits that criteria!

If it doesn’t, I invite you to reconsider, and reinvent your day!
